A contingent from Derwick Asscoiates recently traveled to Spain to
discuss investment opportunities with the Spanish electricity sector.
Traveling within the contingent were several of the directors of the
company, including Leopoldo Alejandro Betancourt López, Pedro Trebbau
López, Edgard Romero Lazo and Francisco Convit Guruceaga. The Venezuelan
company directors met with Eduardo Montes, the president of the Spanish
Association of the Electrical Industry.
Derwick
is seeking opportunities abroad after experiencing a great deal of
success in Venezuela. Electricity is one of the most productive sectors
in Spain, accounting for 1.2% of the Gross National Product. This seems
to make Spain a logical destination for one of the most successful
energy companies in all of Venezuela.
Derwick Associates’ experience in Venezuela comes in the form of
supplying equipment to and establishing power plants. They are capable
of providing a number of other services, including installation,
procurement, engineering, construction, commissioning and operation
maintenance. The company was able to thrive despite Venezuela’s
rationing plan, and was in fact able to provide additional energy
sources in a time of need.
“We are always looking to expand and diversify our opportunities,
both at home and abroad,” said Leopoldo Alejandro Betancourt López, one
of the directors of the company. “We feel that there is an opportunity
for us in Spain, and it is in our best interest to explore that
opportunity.”
The company has had an office in Spain since 2010, and has conducted
research on the Spanish economy and its energy production. Clearly, Derwick Associates
must see an opportunity that is intriguing enough that they are
exploring it this thoroughly. “Yes, of course we think it is viable for
us to expand to Spain,” began Edgard Romero Lazo, another director of
Derwick Associates. “We feel there is a great opportunity for us here,
but we would be remiss if we did not conduct our due diligence.”
The intrigue from the Spanish Association of the Electrical Industry
stems from Derwick’s unique experience in providing energy rapidly in a
company largely deprived of it. Derwick is uniquely qualified in this
way to provide a number of energy solutions.
