SPAIN STLL NUMBER ONE DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION IN THE EU

SPAIN STILL NUMBER ONE DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION IN THE EU

Regardless of high unemployment rate, which is 26%, Spain remains one of the favorite countries for a many oversea investors, that are looking for a holiday home in Europe.
According to the latest figures, Spain has been named as the best EU destination for investment, as it remains a dream location for several tourists.

Eurostat’s analysis found that 13 % of the count of European outbound  trips made 2011 was to Spain. With Italy and France on the second spot, with 9% each. These stats include only tourists who live in the Euro zone, and the actual variety of visitors from all over the world, is likely to be much higher.

Spain, apart from gaining most of the Western traffic, has also been identified as the preferred location among English, Italian, and Portuguese visitors. While visitors from France make up for 18 % of Spain’s EU-tourism market, English tourists count for 21 %, and Portuguese tourists were 39 %. These numbers create for an excellent reading for the Spaniards, considering the harsh periods they have faced over the years, due to the recession.

Tourists Turning into Investors

Spain’s tourism industry is performing well even in periods of economic recession. Several visitors who visit the country are often fascinated by the low prices of some of the beautiful luxury properties. Many traders have been setting their attractions on the holiday and resort market, as the results are guaranteed to be big. Popular demand and low costs are pushing residents to sell off their properties, and investors are confident  to make the most of this opportunity.

Research suggests that many overseas investors have begun capitalizing on Spanish real estates assets. The country’s Ministry of Development released a report, which showed that foreign buyers increased their real estate investments by almost 14% during 2012. There have been 6,336 million Euros worth of real estate transactions completed on homes and apartments in the country during 2012, a surprising rise compared to the 5573 million Euros generated through property transactions in 2011.

Strong Market Performances may Aid Recovery

Market activity was quite powerful during the ultimate quarter of 2012. Overseas investors bought 47 % more Real Estates in Spain compared to the final quarter of 2011.  The Market is showing sign of recovery after a constant increase in property transaction for the past six quarters in a row.

Areas such as Alicante, Malaga, Madrid and the Balearic Islands have been gaining plenty of interest from overseas. However, places such as the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol are offering some beautiful beach properties for incredible low prices. Investors who are interested in Estates by the beach are entering the market and purchasing property assets on the coast.
Even resorts and hotels close to the coast  are getting more inquiries about their accessibility, indicating that the tourism industry can contribute considerably towards the restoration of the Real Estate market

COSTA BLANCA IN TOP FIVE CHEAP HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS

Despite sterling taking a pounding against the euro this year, the cost of spending abroad has fallen dramatically at many destinations, according to the Post Office Holiday Costs Barometer.
It means meals out, drinks and self-catering groceries at many popular resorts will be significantly cheaper. The research shows prices in Spain have plummeted by up to 20 per cent since last year.
Portugal pipped Spain’s Costa del Sol to the top spot in the seventh annual travel money league thanks to its low costs of food and drink.
It was closely followed by the Costa Blanca, Spain, Bulgaria and Palma Nova in Mallorca in the top-five cheap holiday destinations.

The costs of 10 standard items - - coffee, beer, wine, cola, water, suncream, newspapers, insect repellant, cigarettes and a meal - are used to set the barometer.

The cost of a basket of goods in the Costa Blanca were £47.14.

The cheapest place in the top five resorts to buy a cup of coffee is the Costa Blanca at 75p.

The research shows prices have tumbled in the Costas, down around 20 per cent compared to last year.

Prices have been dropping in many European resorts because of the effects of the eurozone crisis as they vie for overseas custom to boost their ailing economies.
Andrew Brown, of Post Office Travel Money, said:

"The pound may be worth less in Europe than a year ago but fierce competition means that lower prices in several of the resorts we surveyed can easily offset the falling value of sterling."

Taking some time to check out resort costs and add them to package prices to find the best holiday comparison and overall deal will pay dividends this summer. This really is the year to do some 'sterling' work before booking a holiday.

"Be prepared to swap destination or switch to a cheaper resort within the same country."

Mr Brown said the "continuing volatility" of sterling means holidaymakers should "budget carefully".

He said: "Running out of cash and having to use an overseas ATM or pay on a card that incurs extra charges could pack an unpleasant punch when the statement arrives.

"Allow time to buy foreign currency before leaving home because changing money at the airport means losing out by getting a poor rate."

Most expensive resort in the list was the Jumeirah region of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where the items cost £103.23.

Italian destinations Sorrento (£101.79) and Tuscany (£94.92) were the next dearest.

Travel expert Simon Calder said:

"Wherever you are in Europe it's well worth seeking out the best value. Traders are being very competitive."

ENQUIRIES FOR PROPERTY IN SPAIN RISING.

Overseas and domestic buyers looking to buy property in Spain may be interested in the recent predictions offered by the Bank of Spain.

According to the financial institution, the current fluctuation in home values in the country could be set to continue.

The bank explained that the Spanish economy could be held back for years as a result of the high mortgage debt burden. House prices have fallen 17 per cent since late 2007, the Bank of Spain said.

Additional reports suggest that there are over one million unsold homes currently in the country.

"Looking at previous cycles, the experience of other countries, and indicators of affordability, the adjustment in housing prices could continue," the central bank said in its monthly report in December.

However, a number of real estate portal have reported that enquiries for property in Spain have risen over the past few months, suggesting that cash-rich buyers are looking to take advantage of the current low prices.

CALPE LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR MORE ECONOMIC HELP

The Town Hall of Calpe has started a campaign to get their residents to sign on the local register, the Padrón.

Members of the British, Belgian and Dutch consulates gathered at the town hall on Tuesday to discuss the new drive to encourage expat residents to get on the Padrón.

Thousands of tourists come to Calpe every year, using the public services during the season, the costs for these services are mainly paid by the funds that come from Madrid. As only around 30,000 of the 50,000 people living in Calpe are signed up on the Padron Municipal, this leaves the Town Hall out of pocket to fund vital services, like Healthcare, public transport, and policing.

With the new Campaign "I WANT YOU" the town hall is targeting all the people that live in Calpe all year round but are not yet signed on the Padrón Municipal.

The Mayor Cesar Sanchez assured that this campaign does not include the payment of any new Taxes.

SPAIN A BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR SMALL INVESTORS.

The economic situation in Spain has made the country a prime spot for small investors looking for city property or bargain real estate opportunities.

According to The Spanish Brick, prices are hitting rock-bottom and plateauing in city locations, with some properties now available between €70,000 (£56,000 approx) and €120,000 (£96,000 approx).

What's more, city properties are in permanent demand in the rental market and can be rented from the first month.

Spanish Brick claims that there is now a significant improvement yield in the country because of lower prices, rising from two per cent to 4.5 per cent with a reasonable lower risk.

Lower property prices also mean that smaller investors who would previously have been unable to afford real estate in Spain can now do so. This has opened up the market, creating new opportunities.

Furthermore, in the mid-to-long term, people can move to Spain with a profit after using property as a buy-to-let investment.

BICYCLE TOUR IN DENIA.

The Bicycle is a very popular and common form of transport at the Costa Blanca. It s not only cost effective and better for your Health but it is also the more relaxing way to move within the Towns.

Denia offers routes and bicycle lanes for all sorts of bikers. If you are just looking to move through town and enjoy the sea view or the beautiful weather or if you want to ride a bit further to the small town Els Poblets and drive right through the countryside. There are also many routes for the more professional bikers in Denia.

You can find a nice collection of the most famous routes in Denia here. www.mapmyride.com/es/denia-valencia/

If you would like to take a tour or move around on the bike and didn´t take one with you (because it didn´t fit into you hand luggage) there are plenty of shops that rent their bikes out for the day, the week or even just a couple of hours. You will find these shops distributed throughout Denia.

Denia´s Town Hall has also started a public bike rentals system, where you can just take a bike at one station and drop it of at another. The payment runs completely via your card that you can get at any of the stations. Although this system was not established for tourists, it is still a very useful and quick way to get through town.

SPAIN STILL NUMBER ONE HOLIDAY DESTINATION.

New figures have named Spain as the top EU destination once again, showing that despite the economic climate, the country remains the dream spot for many tourists. Euro stat found that in 2011, 13 per cent of all outbound trips in Europe where made to Spain, with Italy and France coming in second place (nine per cent respectively). These figures do not include holiday makers outside of the EU and actual visitor numbers are likely to be much higher.

The most popular areas for investment are Alicante, Malaga, Barcelona, the Balearic Islands and Madrid. For those interested in the holiday let market, selecting the right location is integral. The Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca have proven particularly sought after among investors and holiday makers.

It was also revealed that Spain is the preferred choice among Portuguese, British and French tourists, with market shares of 39 per cent, 21 per cent and 18 per cent respectively. This flies in the face of most research, which indicates it is in fact people from the UK that make up the majority of travelers in Spain.

These figures will no doubt be welcomed by Spaniards, who have been faced with a deluge of bad news over the coming years, thanks to the recession. What's more, they indicate investors looking to enter the holiday let market should set their sights on Spanish property, to benefit from low real estate prices and high demand.

Data shows that many foreign buyers are already capitalizing on the assets the country has to offer. Spain's Ministry of Development revealed overseas buyers upped their investment in real estate by 13.7 per cent in 2012, equating to €6,336 million worth of property transactions on private homes. This is considerably greater than the €5,573.3 million noted in 2011.

Over the last quarter of 2012, activity was particularly strong, with overseas investors buying 47 per cent more homes than the same time in 2011. Some 13,873 properties were bought by foreigners between October and December. This appetite for Spanish real estate shows little sign of abating anytime soon, and non-residents of the country have been increasing their market share for six consecutive quarters.

DOGS HEATSTROKE IN SUMMER

In Spain it happens year after year. Dogs are locked in the car in the summer while the owners just have a quick coffee in the beach cafe. 10 Minutes can be enough to have your dog having a heatstroke in the oven that is your car.

Even with the windows down, you would not imagine how hot it gets in a car that is parked in the sun. Especially in summer, it doesn´t even have to be parked in the sun. When temperatures in summer reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, the reflection of heat from the car park will be enough to heat up the car in minutes.

So Dear Dog owners, if you can not let your dog at home and you have to take them with you, then make sure not to leave them in the car.

If you see a dog locked in a Car on a warm and sunny day, Call the police on 092, or call the Guardia Civil on 062 and ask for the Seprona department.

If you are afraid about the dogs welfare, and no one will be there on time to open the car, the overwhelming urge will be to break into the car and release the dog

You must be warned that there is a risk of being charged with criminal damage. Consensus seems to be, tell the police what you intend to do and take photos or video on your phone to show the distress of the animal. Take phone numbers of other witnesses.

You will be able to tell a Heatstroke by the following symptoms:

  • Heavy panting
  • Profuse salivation
  • A rapid pulse
  • Very red gums and/or tongue
  • Lethargy
  • Lack of coordination
  • Reluctance or inability to rise after collapsing
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
followed by Loss of consciousness, Organ failure, Brain bleeds and Death.

If the dog shows any of the heatstroke symptoms call the nearest Vet.
For a list of Vets in Javea click here.

To find the number of the nearest vet in Spain either
call the police
or
search "Veterenarios + the town/city name" on the Paginas Amarillas (yellow pages).

To help while waiting for the vet, you need to lower their body temperature. Although you have to be careful how you do this. You should never pour ice cold water onto the dog. THIS CAN LEAD TO A SHOCK.

Take the following steps:

  • Move the dog to a shaded cool area.
  • Immediately douse the dog with cool (NOT cold) water if possible.
  • Let the dog drink SMALL amounts of cool water.
  • Never cool the dog so much that he/she begins to shiver.
  • Go straight to the nearest vet surgery.

When coming to Spain for a Holiday and you are renting a Holiday Villa, make sure that you that you check with your Estate Agent that Dogs are allowed and there is enough space for them to stay.
