CALPE LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR MORE ECONOMIC HELP

The Town Hall of Calpe has started a campaign to get their residents to sign on the local register, the Padrón.

Members of the British, Belgian and Dutch consulates gathered at the town hall on Tuesday to discuss the new drive to encourage expat residents to get on the Padrón.

Thousands of tourists come to Calpe every year, using the public services during the season, the costs for these services are mainly paid by the funds that come from Madrid. As only around 30,000 of the 50,000 people living in Calpe are signed up on the Padron Municipal, this leaves the Town Hall out of pocket to fund vital services, like Healthcare, public transport, and policing.

With the new Campaign "I WANT YOU" the town hall is targeting all the people that live in Calpe all year round but are not yet signed on the Padrón Municipal.

The Mayor Cesar Sanchez assured that this campaign does not include the payment of any new Taxes.
